Throughout the year I host a number of workshops, helping people improve their art skills.

With demonstrations at each stage of the process, and individual support given throughout the day, the workshops are relaxed, friendly and suitable for all abilities.

December 9th, 10th & 11th - 10am until 4pm

Three full days of tuition and guidance to help you begin or improve your landscape skills. Suitable for all abilities.

  • learn about scale, proportion and simplifying shape

  • learn the importance of composition, the use of focal points and how to lead the eye around your paintings

  • understand the importance of contrast, adding light and shade to give your landscapes form and impact

  • improve your colour knowledge and colour mixing ability to create a successful range of natural tones

  • improve your paint application skills, building layers and understanding the use of glazes

  • look at various painting styles to help build your awareness

  • understand the importance of play and experimentation to develop exciting marks & push your landscapes further

Three full days of tuition and guidance to help you begin or develop your sketchbook skills. Suitable for all abilities.

  • learn to relax and just enjoy the process of creating without the pressure of having to always make a finished piece

  • understand the value of sketchbooks, their various uses, from planning a painting, to building skills by practicing techniques

  • get over the fear of the blank page…of not knowing what to do in them, or where to start with idea suggestions and prompts

  • reduce the worry of wanting everything you do in sketchbooks to be perfect, embracing mistakes as a way to learn & improve

  • encourage a regular sketchbook habit, building confidence in your artistic knowledge & ability, and acting as a springboard to develop ideas for new work

  • a place to develop self awareness, of recognising your preferences and how they can impact your art

  • to develop a visual diary, a creative journal, recording your progress, and capturing memories along the way

  • improve your colour knowledge and colour mixing ability to create a successful range of flesh tones

  • improve your paint application skills, building layers and understanding the use of glazes

  • learn about composition and cropping to enhance the effect and emotion within your portraits

  • look at various painting styles to help build your awareness

  • understand the importance of play and experimentation to develop exciting backgrounds & push your portraits further
